Update - HotFix - Security Bulletin Services
The two links
directly below will allow you to find all the updates that Microsoft
has issued. Windows Update may well provide you with all the updates
you need, but if you need to find a listing that is not specific to
the machine being used to access Automatic Update these links can be
a very handy reference.
HotFix & Security Bulletin Service
Windows XP Pre-SP1 Hotfixes
Since this page was
created Microsoft has changed the way updates are obtained for
Windows XP. Previously, you could download the updates and store
them for later use from the Corporate Update Site. Now, all updates
are served through Windows Update. You can either have Windows
Update scan your computer and list the relevant updates ready for an
automated install, or you can use the
Windows Update Catalog to download individual updates to your
hard drive and install them later. When searching Windows Update
Catalog for updates, the results are returned in three categories;
Critical Updates and Service Packs, Recommended Updates,
and Multi-Language Features.
Microsoft has
released a command-line tool named Qfecheck.exe that gives network
administrators increased ability to track and verify installed
Windows 2000 and Windows XP hotfixes. Knowledge Base Q282784is
here. Very handy.
